As a spiritual director, it is helpful to listen to the story beneath the story your directee is sharing. The story underneath the story may point to the critical role of attachment. In this workshop, Rev. Summer Joy Gross will address the following important questions:
* How do we recognize our directees’ attachment style?
* What does attachment have to do with their relationship with God?
* How do we help them discern and relax into their rhythms of a secure child, both drawing near and exploring?
In addition to her work as an Anglican priest and a faculty member in HCM’s spiritual direction program, Summer has walked with hundreds of people into a secure attachment with the Father through podcasts, videos, retreats, and groups through her Presence Project. Summer’s work in spiritual direction and now her new book, The Emmanuel Promise: Discovering the Security of a Life Held by God will help directors support directees on a journey into the Father’s nearness.
