“’I have had enough, Lord,’ he said. ‘Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.’ Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep. All at once an angel touched him and said, ‘Get up and eat.’ He looked around, and there by his head was some bread baked over hot coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then lay down again. The angel of the Lord came back a second time and touched him and said, “Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you.” I Kings 19:4-7
As Elijah is facing one of the darkest moments of his life, three beautiful things happen in this passage. The first is Elijah’s ability to express to the Lord his desperation in a very real way. The second is that he is able to enter a space of rest. The third is the revelation of God’s presence in Elijah’s darkness. Within this interaction we see several principles upon which we have designed an intensive experience at The Healing Care Center. We invite individuals to be real about their circumstances and emotions, enter into a space that fosters rest and security, and position individuals for an encounter with God.
The intensive experience is one option of care offered at The Healing Care Center. It has been designed to invite an individual to move fully into a time of Sabbath rest and interaction with The Lord. The intensive is a seven-day experience at The Healing Care Center with five days of care and teaching. Arrival is Sunday evening, with care beginning on Monday and continuing through Friday, with departure scheduled on Saturday morning. Each day of care consists of three hours of direction from one of our skilled caregivers and an hour of teaching on various topics that help inform our healing journey. We recommend this experience for individuals in crisis and those seeking to build a strong foundation of health on a journey toward healing and wholeness.
As you join us at THCC, you will find a home that is welcoming and designed to meet your needs during your stay with us. It is situated on over 13 acres with a beautiful pond and trails through the wooded area of the property. You will have a private bedroom for your stay and the use of a fully equipped kitchen to prepare meals. We also supply any linens you may need during your stay with us. We invite you to make our place your home for the week.
The time of care is curated to your individual journey around our modality of the structures of healing. We explore dysfunctional behaviors, emotional upheaval, lies and wounds within your life narrative. We approach these areas through teaching and experientials that allow you to engage truth with your life. The community teaching time is anchored around important concepts to aid you on your journey and prepare you to reengage with life after your time at The Healing Care Center.
Entering into an intensive experience at The Healing Care Center allows you to focus on your journey with limited distractions and gives you the equivalent of four to five months of weekly interactions in one week. In many cases we have seen restoration that we would expect to take nine months or longer develop through weekly meetings. This is an excellent way to find God in the midst of a crisis or move your healing journey forward in a significant way.
Intensives are not limited to individuals. We offer couple’s intensives to specifically invite Jesus to impact marriages as well. The couple’s intensive is based on the belief that healthy individuals create healthy relationships. The experience is housed at The Healing Care Center and consists of an hour and a half of individual care for each of the spouses, followed by an hour and a half of care as a couple. It also includes a time of teaching each day that focuses on both the individual and relational aspects of life.
Over the past few years, we have been witness to Jesus bringing transformation to lives through this intensive pathway. It is a moment in your journey that can impact and prepare you for life moving forward. If you are interested or have questions, you can contact us through www.thehealingcarecenter.org
