Dealing With Unfinished Business
By Terry Wardle
January 15, 2012Spend some time today meditating on Zephaniah 3:17-20. It is simply packed with wonderful promises from the Lord. Promises that should be especially important to those of us on a journey of deep inner healing.
It is not unusual for folks like us to struggle with feeling:
Unsafe
Unlovable
Anxious
Handicapped
Scattered
Shameful
Can you relate? Most of us do, especially as the unfinished business of the past fights to keep our attention on wounds that have at some level turned toxic. And, no matter how hard we try, it is difficult to change these very powerful feelings about ourselves.
Guess what these verses tell us? God has promised to act on our behalf to bring change to the very feelings listed above. The scriptures do not point to things we should do, but specifically actions that God is taking to episodically engage these matters on our behalf and as a result bring deep and lasting change.
Go to the verses mentioned and see if you can the specific interventions the Lord is committed to making … for you. Once you find them, use your imagination to visualize God doing what he has promised … for you. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you.
