In John 3 we read about the conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus, famous for the words, “You must be born again.” I was rereading that passage recently, and something stood out. Prior to saying that a person cannot enter the kingdom of God unless they are born again, Jesus said that they cannot even see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.
Every day, in countless ways, kingdom opportunities are before us. Moments in time when we can step in and participate in a kairotic moment where the Lord is at work to in some way bring more light and love into the world. But many times, we miss those moments because we simply do not notice the opportunity. We do not see them. Situations, pregnant with the kingdom, come and go and we do not see them and as such do not participate with the Lord in changing the world. Moments when the Lord has positioned us to love someone, share the good news, pray for a person, even stand against darkness.
May the Lord open our eyes to see the kingdom and step in. If we have been born again, we certainly have been given the capacity to see with kingdom eyes. We need to simply ask the Holy Spirit to help us actualize that ability in the day to day moments of life.
Here is a simple reality. The mundane always holds the potential to become the miraculous whenever we step into a kingdom moment.
